Sustainable dyeing is gaining interest in the knitting industry with producers seeking lower levels of chemicals to use and lowering the amount of water used in the process. Some of the textile centers have started experimenting with low-liquor dyeing machines and natural-pigment formulations in accordance with environmental requirements. According to industry authorities, brands are more and more demanding eco-certified fabrics forcing mills to revise their operations. Innovative experiments indicate that the newer dyeing systems have the potential of enhancing the consistency of the shade and reducing the production cost. Analysts reckon that, in the event of the adoption, sustainable dyeing will be an obligatory norm in the export markets in two years.
